Wild Silk – Baserange's wild silk originates from China and is Oeko-Tex certified. Wild silk comes from Tussar silkworms that live in the wild. Due to the short fiber length, Tussar silk is a very durable fabric and more textured than regular silk. The process of making wild silk is non-violent and does not involve killing silkworms. For around 30 days, the silkworm grows and munches on castor leaves until it reaches its final size. It then spins its cocoon for another 15 days. Once the moth leaves its cocoon, the silk is processed.

Nimbus (Kerria Lacca) – This piece is naturally dyed with Nimbus, also known as lac dye, which is made from the resin stick of the lac insect. The insect is a pest on many plants and the resin is used in foods as wax to extend the shelf life, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as well as textile dyes. The resin stick contains a water-soluble dye that produces a red or violet shade after dyeing and the dye is a natural mordant. Textiles dyed with Nimbus have antimicrobial properties.
